Week 42: Inventory Management — Aug 9 – 15, 2025
TL;DR: Parts and inventory tracking is live. Technicians log material usage on jobs, managers track stock levels, and low-stock alerts prevent job delays.
Highlights This Week
- Built Inventory page with stock level tracking
- Implemented material usage logging on job completion
- Added low-stock alerts and reorder point configuration
Parts Management
“We cannot finish the job — we do not have the part” is the most expensive sentence in field service. Inventory management tracks: parts in warehouse, parts on trucks, usage per job, and reorder triggers. Technicians log materials used, and stock levels update in real-time.
How It Works
Each inventory item has a stock level, reorder point, and preferred supplier. When a technician uses a part on a job, they log it through the job completion form. The system deducts from inventory and triggers a reorder alert if the stock drops below the threshold.
